First photos of new royal baby emerge

Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg is every bit the proud grandmother as she took to Instagram to share photos of the newest royal family member, Prince Balthasar Felix Karl. Prince Balthasar is the third child of Prince Felix and his wife Princess Claire, and the Grand Duchess' seventh grandchild. "What a great joy the arrival of Balthasar, our seventh grandchild, born on January 7 in Luxembourg," she captioned the series of photos. The Grand Duchess, 67, was pictured with a huge smile on her face as husband Grand Duke Henri, 68 cradled Prince Balthasar. In another photo, Prince Felix and Princess Claire are pictured with their older children Princess Amalia, 9, and Prince Liam, 7, with Prince Balthasar fast asleep in his mother's arms. The third photo shows Grand Duchess Maria and Princess Amalia posing on the hospital bed as the Grand Duchess cradles her grandson. The Grand Duchess ended the series of photos with two pictures of her grandkids holding their new baby brother. The birth of Prince Balthasar was announced on Monday in a statement which read: "The newborn Prince will be named Balthasar Felix Karl. He weighs 3.220 kg (7lbs 1 oz) and measures 50 cm. "Prince Balthasar and Princess Claire are in perfect health." "A moving time": Hunter Valley bus crash victims honoured at AFLW grand final

Avid footy fans Nadene and Kyah McBride were among the ten wedding guests killed in the <a href="https://www.oversixty.com.au/news/news/more-than-we-can-bear-hunter-valley-bus-crash-victims-identified" target="_blank" rel="noopener">horror bus crash</a> on the June long weekend. They are survived by grieving dad and husband, Graham McBride, who was also on the bus at the time of the crash, but only suffered neck and arm injuries. On Sunday, their lives and love for the sport have been honoured during the during the AFLW grand final between North Melbourne and Brisbane. “We thank all of those involved in community football for their tireless efforts in making our game the best it can be,” the game's MC and Seven commentator Nat Edwards said as they brought out the cup. Nadene, who was the founder and coach of the Singleton Roosterettes, has been named an official AFLW community hero. Her daughter Kyah was a star player in the team, and was also part of the Sydney Swans AFL women's development squad. Graham joined the guard of honour as his wife and daughter were acknowledged. He paid a touching tribute to his loved ones before the game. "Nadene has done a lot for football so to get their recognition back hits home," a teary-eyed Graham told Nine News. "Everyone enjoyed being around the girls, they made you smile," he added. In another interview with 7News he told the publication: “I think that cup will be full of happy tears and sad tears. It’ll be a proud moment." ”(Nadene) bled Sherrin in her veins. Footy was everything to her. ”I’m going to do it for my girls ... I bloody love them and they love their football.” Just months prior to the tragic accident, Nadene and Kyah celebrated their teams win. “For Singleton AFC when we first started, we were actually not very good,” Nadene said in a Ladbrokes video that resurfaced following the crash. “One of our biggest deficits was about 263-to-nil I’m pretty sure. Sam Newman backs down on controversial Grand Final plans

Sam Newman has remarkably backed down on his plans to boo during the Welcome to Country acknowledgement at the upcoming AFL grand final. Tina Turner fans in a frenzy over major announcement

The late Tina Turner will be honoured at the upcoming NRL grand finals, 30 years on from her own iconic performance at the sporting event. Performers of the Tina Turner Musical will headline both the men's and women's grand final events, marking three decades since the late singer's iconic performance at the 1993 grand final. "Thirty years on, Tina Turner's 1993 performance remains one of the great grand final moments," NRL CEO Andrew Abdo said. "This collaboration is a perfect way for rugby league to pay tribute to Tina and everything she did for our game, and it will be a special moment for fans amongst the outstanding entertainment on offer on grand final day." Tina Turner had a long history with the NRL, as she partnered with the New South Wales Rugby League to deliver a campaign to promote the sport, with her songs What You Get Is What You See and The Best being used in the promo shoot and becoming synonymous with the game. Ten grand to even take a LOOK inside Melissa Caddick’s home

The luxury home belonging to alleged fraudster Melissa Caddick is up for sale, but prospective buyers will need to fork out a $10,000 deposit to view the property. Ms Caddick is believed to have died after disappearing from the home in Sydney’s eastern suburbs in 2020, shortly after it was raided as part of an investigation by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC). The Dover Heights home has been <a href="http://sydneysothebysrealty.com/9395321/5-Wallangra-Road-Dover-Heights" target="_blank" rel="noopener">listed</a> by auction house Sydney Sotheby’s International Realty. Liquidator Bruce Gleeson said he was hopeful that its sale would make a major contribution to paying the $23 million sum Ms Caddick allegedly stole from 72 victims of a Ponzi scheme. "Since obtaining vacant possession in late May 2022 and receiving orders enabling us to proceed with a sale, we have undertaken certain maintenance and minor improvements to amplify the property's luxurious appeal," Mr Gleeson said. Ms Caddick bought the home in 2014 for $6.2 million, with a recent estimate from Mr Gleeson’s firm valuing it at more than $10 million. Sydney Sotheby’s has made the $10,000 refundable ‘entry fee’ a requirement to deter nosy neighbours and those following the ongoing inquest into Ms Caddick’s disappearance. The strategy seems to have worked so far, as Sotheby’s estate agent Michael Pallier said prospective buyers had already booked in to pay the deposit within hours of the house being listed. Errol Diamond, Ms Caddick’s former next-door neighbour, told the <a href="https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-09-26/nsw-caddick-10-million-dollar-dover-heights-home-for-sale/101472954" target="_blank" rel="noopener">ABC</a> that the refundable deposit will help distinguish interested buyers from those having a snoop, and that he was interested in seeing it himself. "I think we will pay to have a look at it. Stunning view. I think we'll go for it," he said. "I think [the refundable $10,000 deposit] will be the difference between genuine buyers and sticky beakers." The five-bedroom, three-bathroom home won’t be the last of Ms Caddick’s belongings to be auctioned either. "We are also well advanced and close to finalising an application to the Federal Court which will seek sale orders regarding the designer jewellery, clothing, and artworks," Mr Gleeson said. John Farnham "deeply touched" by Robbie Williams' tribute

Australian music legend John Farnham has said he was "deeply touched" by Robbie Williams' dedication to the singer, as he continues to battle cancer. In front of 100,000 AFL fans on Friday's grand final match in Melbourne, Robbie took to the stage to deliver a 20 minute mash-up of his biggest hits as the pre-show entertainment. “Overbearing idiots” fined for surfing through Venice’s Grand Canal

Two “overbearing idiots” who were caught surfing through Venice's Grand Canal have been identified and had their boards confiscated. Another Neighbours alum to return for final episode

Former Neighbours star Guy Pearce is coming home to Ramsay Street one more time for the show's grand finale. Pearce, who has gone on to star in Memento, LA Confidential and The King's Speech among other big titles, has returned to film the end to the shows 37-year run, with the final episode airing on August 1. The actor isn’t the only big-name star to return for the finale, with alums Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan both reprising their roles. ‘Unliftable’: Australia’s chunkiest angel makes her grand debut

The “unliftable” staffie was rescued by the RSPCA in South Australia after a call was made to team inspectors, who said that Sophie had spiralled into a dark depression following the tragic deaths of her owners. Sitting at 400% above her ideal body weight under the care of a housemate who struggled to look after her, vet and rescue teams were gobsmacked at the size of her. RSPCA inspector Krista said they had never encountered a dog that big before. “When I first saw her I couldn’t believe it,” they said. “She was so big, I didn’t even know if she was able to walk. “There was no way I’d be able to lift her into the van.” Unable to walk, Sophie was put on an intense exercise program and eating plan. RSPCA SA’s puppy-fat burning expert Stuart said Sophie was by far the most overweight dog he had ever seen. “Sophie is definitely the biggest I’ve encountered, but I’m happy to help with her fitness journey,” he said. “I can’t wait to see her running around enjoying the happy, healthy lifestyle she deserves.” Sophie is on her fitness journey and is sure to be looking healthy and happier everyday. Possible jail time for border jumpers who snuck into AFL Grand Final

Two Melbourne socialites have been arrested in Western Australia following a state-wide manhunt on Monday night, with the pair facing accusations of sneaking into Perth for the AFL Grand Final. The Melbourne Demons fans came from Victoria - which is currently battling through a wave of COVID infections - and have been charged with failure to comply with directions. Hayden Burbank and Mark Babbage were found near Margaret River on Tuesday and have been arrested over claims they’ve broken COVID-19 rules in three states. Burbank first came to the attention of police after being spotted in a photo of the grand final on AFL’s official Instagram account. <img style="width: 500px; height: 375px;" src="https://oversixtydev.blob.core.windows.net/media/7844460/demons-afl.jpg" alt="" data-udi="umb://media/7ace81cbd1d84aa7914feabe319a7ddc" /> Hayden Burbank (left) spotted celebrating with Demons players. One has returned a negative COVID-19 test result, while the second man’s result was inconclusive, prompting a second test on Tuesday night. Health protocols are being put in place in the areas where the pair were following their arrival in WA. Police allege the pair left Melbourne on September 14, stayed in Darwin, and then flew to Perth on September 22. The men allegedly falsified their application for G2G passes to enter WA, after providing Northern Territory driver’s licence papers and other supporting documentation. Since the Northern Territory is classified as a low-risk border, no exemption was needed. But, WA Police now allege the driver’s licence papers were false. Masked Singer grand finale interrupted by furious security guard

Masked Singer star Jackie O has revealed how the taping of the grand finale was interrupted by an angry security guard. The last episode of the show was set to be filmed two weeks ago but had to be cancelled just two hours before showtime due to a crew member testing positive to COVID-19. The rest of the cast and crew were then required to quarantine for two weeks in Melbourne before producers allowed Jackie O to return to Sydney and Urzila Carlson to New Zealand. “They put our health before the show and they pretty much sent everyone back to their home,” Jackie O said on KIIS FM this morning. But despite the unfortunate circumstances, Channel 10 was firm on their decision to film a grand finale, and last night that became a reality. “We are ambitiously filming the finale via green screen with people in two different countries, two different states and three different locations and they’re keying us in as if we’re all together in studio,” Jackie said. “Urzila is quarantining in this hotel (in New Zealand) by herself so therefore she cannot have anyone enter her room to help her out with equipment. All she’s been given is some sort of GoPro to put on the top of her computer, she’s got a green sheet behind her and she has to do her own hair and makeup.” Filming began at 4 pm AEST yesterday and went for over 10 hours. But in the last half an hour, shooting was interrupted by an angry security guard. “It’s 1.30 in the morning and we’ve done two mask reveals and we’re waiting for our final mask reveal,” Jackie said on air today. “Urzila gets a busting knock on the door, we’re talking ‘bang, bang, bang!’ Ursula’s like, ‘Oh my god, someone’s at the door, they’re banging on the door!’” The Masked Singer judge quickly realised it was hotel security. “I said to her, ‘Why would you be getting a knock on the door at this time?’ She said, ‘Probably because for the last hour and a half I’ve been yelling out, ‘Take it off, take it off, take it off!’” Jackie said. “I was in tears thinking about the people in New Zealand in hotel quarantine hearing some girl on her own at 3.30 in the morning just yelling out these things,” the radio host laughed. The Masked Singer grand finale is set to air next Monday night on Channel 10.

Coronavirus RNA has been determined to have the ability to live for up to 17 days among surfaces after health authorities studies the Diamond Princess cruise ship. The disease can survive longer than research has previously shown, new data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has shown to us on Monday in new data. The study sought out to show how the Japanese and U.S government’s efforts to contain the COVID-19 outbreaks on the Carnival-owned Diamond Princess ship in Japan and the Grand Princess ship in California has been. RNA is the genetic material of the virus that causes COVID-19, and was “identified on a variety of surfaces in cabins of both symptomatic and asymptomatic infected passengers up to 17 days after cabins were vacated on the Diamond Princess but before disinfection procedures had been conducted,” the researchers wrote. The CDC added the genetic material of the virus that specifically causes COVID-19 revealed that there was no indication that the virus can “spread by surface”. They also added researchers were unable to “determine whether transmission occurred from contaminated surfaces,” and that more studies focussing on whether COVID-19 can be spread through touching surfaces on cruise ships was warranted. “COVID-19 on cruise ships poses a risk for rapid spread of disease, causing outbreaks in a vulnerable population, and aggressive efforts are required to contain spread,” the data report read. The CDC has urged people to stay away from cruise ships at this time if they are part of the more vulnerable population. Researchers at the national Institutes of Health, CDC, UCLA and Princeton University previously found that COVID-19 can last up to three days on plastic and stainless steel. The study also determined the RNA of the virus decreases over time on plastic and stainless steel. The new study set out to understand just how “transmission occurred across multiple voyages of several ships.” It noted at least 25 cruise ship voyages had confirmed cases of COVID-19 as of March 17. All of these cases where either detected during or after the cruise trip ended. Almost half, 46.5%, of the infections aboard the Diamond Princess were asymptomatic when they were tested. The study revealed it partially explaining the “high attack rate” of the virus among passengers and crew. On February 4, all 3,700 passengers and crew of the Diamond Princess were quarantined at a Japanese port after a passenger had been diagnoses with COVID-19 after returning to Hong Kong. What resulted was the largest cluster of confirmed coronavirus cases outside of China at the time, with more than 800 passengers and crew eventually going on to become infected. Nine people died due to the outbreak after disembarking the ship. Research revealed that 712 of 3,711 people on the Diamond Princess, or 19.2% were infected by COVID-19. 78 cases were also found on the Grand Princess, which was force to moor off the coast of California after two passengers tested positive when they disembarked the vessel. The 78 cases tied back to the ship across separate voyages. California officials allowed the ship to remove all passengers from the vessel at the Port of Oakland. The Diamond Princess and Grand Princess has accounted for more than 800 total COVID-19 cases, including 10 deaths.
